It is only fitting that this is my final image for this series. At the end of the line, is a small conveyor belt loaded with beautiful, golden, natural perfection.
The entire hulling and shelling process has many, many steps to ensure the highest quality yield, and therefore, there is an abundance of machinery, conveyors, blowers and everything else you can think of.
My process for treating images dramatizes contrast in such a way, that even a spotless operation like the one these folks run, end up looking a bit rustic by the time I am done.
I had a fabulous opportunity to photograph the operations of Mid-State Hulling and Shelling during the peak of the harvest. This is first in a series I will publish. Thanks Grant and Claudette allowing me access your facilities.
