Wheels of Progress

 

Trains are very interesting to me. In many ways, they are incredibly crude, yet, they are amazingly effective. Looking at the undercarriage and wheels of this rail car shows the simplicity of these rail cars, relying primarily on massively built steel parts, I wonder how long it takes to wear out a set of wheels... 2 million miles?

Sometimes when I see graffiti, such as you often see tagged on a bridge, building, or in this case, a rail car, it almost makes me think of those highly stylized logos for a designer collection of clothing.

Sumptuous Clouds

 

The brilliant blue springtime sky and the sun contrasted with the silvery clouds in such a way that they seemed to look, more than ever, like the proverbial cottonballs in the sky.

This graffiti was found under an old bridge in the Central Valley. It is a very powerful image.
